Fire Fighter Two
Class Schedule Winter 2006
Course Requirements:
Student MUST have “Essentials of Fire Fighting” Fourth Edition
from IFSTA
Each participant must have complete structural firefighting PPE, including
SCBA, at each class. (call with questions)
Each Student must be a member of an Emergency Response Organization. Be
approved by the Chief to take this class.
Dates:
All Monday and Wednesday classes will be from 1800 to 2200.
Sections:
Most lessons will be presented twice per week, once on Monday, and once
on Wednesday. When a lesson is “double booked” it is the student’s
choice on which class to attend.

January 9 or 11 (may be 1 hour longer class time)

February 18 (Last Day: Long Day for practical and review)

Note: All Fire Fighter Two certifications require Haz Mat Ops, and the
passing of the State test, this class is not the test.

This course will be physically strenuous!
All students must be able to complete all requirements; this includes dealing
with confined spaces, heights, stress, and all other aspects of Firefighting.
All students need to be fit tested, and will sign a liability waiver.
Fire Fighter Two is a continuation of Fire Fighter One. The class is divided into two units.
Essentials of Firefighter II Training
32 hours Total
Unit 1 (17 Hours)
8 hours
Implementing IMS—Chap. 1 Implement and maintain an Incident Management
System and transfer command.
Pre-Incident Survey—Chap. 19 Conduct a pre-incident survey, working
as a member of a team.
Fire Detection, Alarm, & Suppression Sy—Chap. 15 Operation of
automatic fire detection & suppression systems. Identify and inspect
components of automatic sprinkler systems
Construction Materials & Building Collapse—Chap. 3 Identify effects
of fire & fire suppression activities on structures and list actions
to take when building collapse is suspected.
9 hours
Rescue & Extrication Tools Chap—Chap. 7A Identify and safely use
various rescue and extrication tools.
Vehicle Extrication & Special Rescue—Chap. 7B Assisting a rescue
operation team, work as a member of a team to extricate a victim trapped
in a motor vehicle, and perform special rescue operations.
Unit 2 (15 Hours)

Hose Tools & Appliances—Chap. 12 Identify and use hose tools and
appliances and service test hose.
Hydrant Flow and Operability—Chap. 11 Test the operability and flow
from a fire hydrant.
13 Foam Fire Streams—Chap. 13 Mix foam concentrate and assemble and
operate a foam fire stream system.
7 Hours
Ignitable Liquid & Flammable Gas Fire Control—Chap. 14 Operate
as part of a team to: 1. Coordinate an interior attack, and 2. To control
and/or extinguish liquid fire and flammable gas cylinder fires.
Fire Cause & Origin—Chap. 17 Identify responsibilities in fire
cause determination and protect evidence of fire cause and origin.
Radio Communications & Incident Reports—Chap. 18 Complete a basic
incident report and communicate need for team assistance.
